Today Lamar and Tom welcome award-winning journalist Alex Battacharji to Getting to 3rd Space. Alex is the author of ‘We Didn’t Know What Was Next. Nobody Tells You.’ on Inc.com published on December 2,2024. The article is about the mass shooting at Excel Industries eight years later. Excel is where Lamar was the head of human resources at the time of the shooting. Previously we aired an interview with Lamar about his experience. Meet Alex Bhattachargi

Alex Bhattacharji is an award-winning journalist, editor, writer, and producer.

In two decades as an editor, Alex led and launched culture-shaping publications (such as Conde Nast’s Details), worked with some of America’s leading writers, championed new voices, and was recognized with the National Magazine Award for General Excellence.

As a writer, Alex has produced profiles, essays, and narrative features. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including Conde Nast Traveler, Details, Esquire, GQ, The Hollywood Reporter, Inc., InStyle, Los Angeles Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, Men’s Health, Men’s Journal, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Town & Country, Travel + Leisure, Wired, and the Wall Street Journal Magazine.

In 2024, Alex co-founded Feather Well Productions, which develops narrative audio, print, and film projects that originate in the non-fiction space but have the potential to go far beyond.

A proud son of Flatbush, Alex followed the Dodgers’ path, leaving Brooklyn for Los Angeles’ East Side, where he resides with his wife and dog.
